What does LiDAR stand for?

LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging.

What is LiDAR used for?

LiDAR is commonly used for creating high-resolution 3D maps, detecting terrain elevations, measuring distances, capturing the geometry of objects, and generating point clouds for various applications.

What is Interactive LiDAR?

Interactive LiDAR technology is a type of LiDAR system that allows users to actively interact with the real-time data collected by the LiDAR sensor. In the field of virtual and augmented reality, Interactive LiDAR sensors can track users’ movements, highly responsive and immersive visual experiences can created and a greater sense of realism and interactivity is provide to users.

What does PoE stand for?

PoE stands for Power over Ethernet, which is a technology that allows electrical power to be transmitted along with data over an Ethernet network cable.

What is the benefit of PoE?

PoE technology eliminates the need for separate power cables and simplifies the installation of devices, wireless access points, etc.

How does Interactive LiDAR work?

Interactive LiDAR systems emit laser pulses that bounce off surfaces and return to a receiver. The time it takes for the pulse to return is measured, and this information is used to calculate distance and measure users’ movements.

What are the main principles used in LiDAR?

There are two main principles used in LiDAR technology, time of flight (TOF) and triangulation.

What are the differences between the two principles?

The TOF principle measures the distance between the target object and the laser ranging device by calculating the time difference between the pulse laser beam emitted from the laser and the reflection from the target object back to the receiver.

The triangulation principle uses multiple laser beams emitted from the laser range finder to determine the 3D coordinates of the target object by calculating the angle and distance between different laser beams in space.

What are Interactive LiDAR use scenarios?

Interactive LiDAR can be used in Interactive walls, floors, immersive spaces, and arc curtains, it enables real-time user interaction with projected images/videos. LiDAR sensors can detect user movement within the installation space and modify the projected image based on user input.

Which fields is Interactive LiDAR best fit?

Interactive LiDAR can be used for a variety of purposes, including art exhibits, entertainment experiences, and educational displays.

Which is cheaper? PoE LiDAR or Traditional LiDAR?

PoE LiDAR uses a single Ethernet cable for both power and data transmission, which reduces the overall cost of the system. PoE LiDAR systems are generally smaller and less complex than traditional LiDAR systems, which can further reduce their cost.

Traditional LiDAR systems typically require a high voltage power source and a separate data connection to transmit the LiDAR data. These systems are often larger and more complex than PoE LiDAR systems, which can increase their cost. Traditional LiDAR systems may require additional components, such as a separate power supply or data acquisition unit, which can also add to the overall cost.
